These photos chronicle my visit to the Reverend Dr. Michael E. Haynes Early Education Center, a Boston public school in Roxbury which serves a diverse and underprivileged community. Through the generosity of our sponsors and participants, we gave away a total of $10,000, split between three early education Boston public schools to be used for school supplies and “wish list” items for the teachers to enhance their classroom teaching (you can see some of the items in the photos, including the headsets, the bags on the backs of the chairs and the materials on the walls). The teachers sent me spreadsheets of what they wanted and where to buy everything and I went online and ordered it for them directly (which, they said, was much faster than waiting for the Boston school system to get them what they needed). The teachers were amazing and extremely grateful and the kids were extraordinary!
